Emsisoft Emergency Kit is a totally portable, free security suite that can lend you a hand at any time, whether you have a problem with your computer or you’ve been asked to fix your uncle’s old PC.
There are three different apps included in Emsisoft Emergency Kit: a scanner to check and clean the computer, an analysis tool to manually remove malware and a special app to delete files, Registry keys and other items that are blocked and can’t be deleted otherwise.
The scanner in Emsisoft Emergency Kit, based on the a-squared antivirus engine, is a simple, compact tool that analyzes the system in search of viruses and spyware. Besides the standard, graphical interface version, you also have the command-line version of the same product.
Emsisoft Emergency Kit also includes HiJackFree, a powerful analysis tool that displays port activity, currently active processes, the list of start-up programs, ActiveX drivers and Internet Explorer plug-ins.
Finally, Emsisoft Emergency Kit contains another tool called BlitzBlank, with which you can select specific items (files, folders, Registry keys, drivers, etc.) and delete them right away – perfect for those stubborn files you can’t delete manually. The documentation in Emsisoft Emergency Kit is quite basic – limited to a readme file – but other than that, it’s a handy security kit that fits in a small USB memory device.
